January Joys
From new discoveries to simple pleasures, here's a look at what brought me joy in January. (All products linked)
While everyone was talking about how long January felt, I found myself feeling the opposite. Time seemed to slip by faster than I expected, and I couldn’t help but appreciate the little joys that made the month feel special.
For a month that’s dark and dreary, I try and find joy in the simple pleasures in life and my everyday routine. Here are a few things that brought me joy in January:
Dr Dennis Gross Red Light Mask- I got this at the end of December, Thank You Santa!! I have used it every single day since and placebo effect or not, I feel like it has made a difference in my breakouts and skin texture. The best part is, it only takes 3 min which is why I think I have stuck with it everyday. It’s also a nice time to sit, relax and close your eyes.
Shopping my closet- I used to be someone who believed I needed a new outfit for every occasion, but I've since realized that I don’t. In fact, I actually want to get more wear out of the pieces I already own. Now, I spend time each day browsing for fresh outfit inspiration and creative ways to style my clothes in new ways. It’s made my wardrobe feel exciting and "new" every time I put something on. The best part? I'm saving both money and space!
Mouth Tape- Again, maybe it’s the placebo effect but I’ve only heard positive things about using mouth tape. I started using it in mid-January, and I’ve definitely noticed a reduction in my jaw pain in the mornings. I’m planning to keep it up and hope to see even more benefits. The only downside is that I can’t do my usual nighttime skincare routine since the tape doesn’t stick when I apply products.
Rhode Skincare- Specially the glazing milk. I have been using the product since it was released but I just rediscovered my love for it during these dark and dry winter months. My skin feels noticeably softer and more hydrated, and it gives this subtle, dewy glow without feeling heavy. It’s become a staple in my routine, especially in the mornings when I want that fresh, glowing look.
Homemade sourdough—need I say more?? One of my best friends kindly shared some of her sourdough starter with me (since that’s half the battle when making sourdough at home). Not only is it incredibly delicious, but it’s also so much better for you than store-bought bread. Oh, and did I mention you can also use it to make pancakes, cookies, crackers, and more?
Vintage Homeware- I recently made a few tweaks to our apartment and I’ve found that vintage homeware is superior. If you go to the right place, prices can be great and the quality is most likely 10x better than anything made today.
My Brooklinen robe- Cozy and cute! This robe does not leave my body some days, especially when it’s below freezing. It makes me feel like i’m at a luxurious hotel and I highly suggest you romanticize your life in this way as well.
